Mbongwana Star

Mbongwana Star are a seven-piece band from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They form out of the remains of the Congolese tradi-modern group Staff Benda Bilili, and work with Parisian producer and musician Liam Farrell, who also uses the name Doctor L.

Their music combines traditional Congolese and wider African rhythms with post-punk bass and damaged electronic textures. The group sits at the intersection of electronic, experimental and Congolese music.
