Mattiel

Mattiel is a US music project led by Mattiel Brown, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Brown is a singer and songwriter, and the project develops from her collaboration with Randy Michael and Jonah Swilley, whom she meets in 2014.

Formation and style

After moving to Atlanta, Brown broadens her musical interests and develops her vocal style over several years, often while driving alone to work. Her songwriting begins after she meets Michael and Swilley, with the three working in a straightforward way: Michael and Swilley provide instrumental pieces, and Brown adds lyrics and melodies.

Recording and release

The group writes and records its first full-length album over nine months. Mattiel is released by Burger Records in September 2017.
