Matt Miller

Matt Miller is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and acoustic rock artist from the United States. He is also noted as the guitarist of Notaword.

Background and early work

Miller begins playing guitar at the age of 11 and later studies at American University, where he spends four years performing at local colleges and bars. During this period he builds a following in the Washington, DC area. After college, he tours across eight states on the East Coast and also plays bass for a touring DC-based rock band.

Bands and collaborations

He later forms the band Maverick, in which he sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar. His recording work includes a first professional EP made with Grammy-winning producer Jack Douglas, who is associated with work with John Lennon, Aerosmith and Cheap Trick.

Performances and activity

Miller performs in a range of places including New York City, Los Angeles and Rome, Italy. In Rome he plays a series of shows in a bar in the Trastevere neighbourhood. He also performs at the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood and is asked to play weekly acoustic gigs in a local coffee shop.

Recording career

His four-and-a-half-song EP marks the start of his recorded solo work and is available through major online music services. The material is described as drawing on rock and roll influences across the board, alongside a high-energy live approach.
