Mary Jane
Mary Jane is a UK folk-rock band formed in Southampton in 1993 and active from 1993 to the present. The group plays psychedelic folk-rock and takes its name from the Nick Drake song “The Thoughts of Mary Jane”.
Formation and line-up
The band begins with Jo Quinn on vocals, flutes and acoustic guitar; Paul Alan Taylor on acoustic, electric and 12-string guitars; Peter Miln on fiddle and mandolin; Nick B. Davies on drums and percussion; and Geoff Newitt on bass. The current line-up is Jo Quinn on vocals, flute and fiddle; Paul Alan Taylor on guitar and bouzouki; Gillie Hotston on fiddle, mandolin and vocals; Jon Hawkes on bass; and Steve Barker on drums.
Recordings
The debut album, Hazy Days, is released in 1996. Later albums include The Gates Of Silent Memory (1999), Tacit (2001), To The Prettiest One (2002), Eve (2010) and Solstice (2014).
