Mary Ann Kennedy

Mary Ann Kennedy is a Scottish traditional musician and broadcaster from the United Kingdom. She is a Glasgow Gael living in Lochaber and works across traditional, folk, classical and world music as both a performer and an authoritative commentator.

Music and broadcasting

Her background combines traditional music with classical training. She also has more than fifteen years of experience working with the BBC, which forms part of her profile as a broadcaster and commentator on music.

Groups and ensembles

Kennedy is a member of the Gaelic ensemble Aon Teanga: Un Çhengey. She is also associated with Cliar, whose album won the all-time Best Album accolade at the inaugural Scots Trad Music Awards.

Awards and recognition

She wins several major awards, including the Concours Internationale de l'Harpe Celtique and both National Mod Gold Medals. She also earns a Saltire Award through her work with Cliar.
