Martyr De Mona are a Midlands alternative metal band from the UK, based around grunge-tinged metal and an anthemic hard rock sound. The group forms around founding member Louis Hale, alongside Ant Rickett, Josh Wooldridge and Ashley Leatherland.

Career

The band records three releases and wins a Best British Band of the Year award. In late 2012, it signs to In At The Eye Records/Universal Music. Its live history includes performances at the LG Arena in support of Guns N’ Roses, Black Sabbath, Avenged Sevenfold and Alter Bridge.

Music and releases

Martyr De Mona’s material is produced with emphasis on heavy riffs, strong vocals and technically driven guitar work. Their album Impera is produced by Romesh Dodangoda, who also works with Funeral For A Friend and Motörhead. The record is preceded by the single “Influence & Persuasion” and is followed by a UK tour with headline dates in London, Manchester and Cardiff, as well as an album launch show at Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton.

Style and reception

The band’s sound draws on Midlands rock heritage, with references to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, while also aligning with modern alternative and heavy metal. Reviews describe the group as combining versatile vocals, technical guitar riffs and an energetic live show, and note comparisons with artists including Layne Staley, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden.
