Marshmello

Marshmello is the stage name of Christopher Comstock, a DJ and electronic music producer from Philadelphia, United States. He works in EDM and related styles including future bass, hip hop, progressive house and trap EDM. He releases music through Joytime Collective.

Career

He first gains international attention through remixes of songs by Jack Ü and Zedd. He goes on to collaborate with Omar LinX, Ookay, Jauz and Slushii.

His song “Alone” appears on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2017. In 2018 he releases “Friends” with Anne-Marie, which reaches the US top 20, and later in the year he releases his second studio album, Joytime II, with the singles “Tell Me” and “Check This Out”.

He also releases “Happier” with Bastille, which becomes his highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 single at number 2. In 2020 he and Juice Wrld release “Come & Go” from Legends Never Die, and it also reaches number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Recognition and image

In 2019, Forbes ranks him second on its list of highest paid DJs, with earnings of $40 million. His album Shockwave earns him a Grammy nomination in 2021.

Marshmello performs in a custom helmet. For a period his identity is not publicly known, and his stage name and marshmallow mascot are inspired by deadmau5, whose name and masked image use a similar idea.
