Married to the Sea is a group based in Liverpool that forms in 2006 and remains active. The members play together after having worked in various bands since the late 1990s. They set out to make rowdy pop designed for dancing.

Their sound draws on both bittersweet pop and soul influences, including ABBA and Motown, as well as the more uneven dynamics associated with Pixies, Built to Spill and Grandaddy.
