Mark Wells is an Australian bass player, born in 1973, who has played in Twenty Two Hundred and The Ronnie Wood Band. He also develops a solo career as a singer-songwriter with an emphasis on pop and rock.

Early career

Wells starts playing guitar at the age of eight and later joins his first band while at high school. That group is Supersonic, formed with his long-time friends Tim Russell, Matt Plummer and Alexander McIntyre, with Wells as lead singer. Supersonic tours Australia and releases an album in 2004.

Live work and collaborations

He performs at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and appears on bills with Shihad, Evermore and The Whitlams. He also plays a series of shows along Australia’s east coast, ending with a performance at the Esplanade Hotel in Melbourne.

Solo releases

Wells releases the limited-run Talking in my Sleep EP, which sells out in multiple pressings. The EP includes “Be Your Lover”, which earns him a 1233 Newcastle ABC Music award for Best Adult Contemporary Release in 2005 and receives national airplay on the ABC radio network. Another song, “When You Fall”, is played on high rotation on Triple J.

Style and later activity

His solo work is described as having a pop/rock songwriting style and an energetic live show. He spends time in pre-production on new original material for a debut solo national release and prepares a full-length album and national tour.
