Mark McCabe is a Scottish singer-songwriter from Forfar, Scotland, who works across folk, electronic and trance-related music. Born in 1987, he comes from the north-east of Scotland and is active as a performer, producer and studio operator.

Career

McCabe works as a radio DJ and station manager as well as a musician. He spends a number of years on a pirate radio station in Dublin, Pulse FM103, where he presents the drivetime slot before moving into production work. He also becomes involved in the set-up of the RTÉ DAB network, contributing to plans for six new services from the Irish state broadcaster. His studio, ADDA Studios, continues to record and produce music and acquires a vintage Neve 8014 console.

He releases an album in 2009 and later issues Music From The Fourth Place, which he describes as far removed from his earlier work. He also signs with Twisted Records in New York and releases three 12-inch singles: “Over”, “In the beginning” and “What happens next”. Under the name Digitribe, he secures recording deals with Universal Music Ireland, Rawthentic US and Twisted Records.

Work and collaborations

McCabe has played with many acts and takes part in a wide range of projects through ADDA Studios. His production and mixing credits include the opening sequence for the Special Olympics 2003 and the 2005 and 2007 St Patrick’s Festivals Skyfest. The studio’s client list includes The Devlins, Oxegen Festivals, Brian McFadden, David Wray, Cahill Synnot, British Sea Power, Delores O Reardon, Autamata, Electric Picnic, Gypsy Kings, RTÉ, Damien Rice, Fionulla Gill of Secret Garden, Laura Izibor, Mundy, The Blizzards, Fiona Wight, Josh Ritter, Lesley Roy, Sons & Daughters, Ellen McElroy, 79 Cortinaz, DC PAKT, Juno Falls, Ian Whitty, Nyle Wolfe and Sinéad O’Connor.

Recognition

His personal music achievements include two Meteor Ireland Music Awards, two top ten singles, a record that becomes the second biggest-selling in Ireland, and ten weeks at number one. He also later expresses regret about Maniac 2000.
