Mark Bryan

Mark Bryan is a musician from Silver Spring, United States, best known as the lead guitarist in Hootie & the Blowfish. He also plays mandolin and other instruments, and contributes background vocals. Born in 1967, he works in both the band context and as a solo artist and producer.

Solo work and production

Bryan releases a solo album titled 30 On The Rail, which he writes and produces. He also produces records for other artists, including Thank You Mark by Danielle Howle, Chances Are by Patrick Davis, and Six Times Around the World by Django Walker.

Side projects and collaborations

He fronts a three-piece side project called The Occasional Milkshake. The group includes Hank Futch of the Blue Dogs on bass and Hootie percussionist Gary Greene. Bryan also works with a wide range of musicians on this project, including Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth, Jay Clifford and Ward Williams of Jump Little Children, Bela Fleck, and Sam Bush. He appears as a guest musician on the 2007 Cowboy Mouth live DVD The Name of the Band is Cowboy Mouth and plays five shows with the band in late 2007, filling in for rhythm guitarist Jonathan Pretus.
