Madcap

Madcap is the UK drum and bass project of Elliot Payne, who works as a DJ, producer and remixer. He starts DJing in the early 1990s and grows up in a musical household, with a rock and roll musician father and a piano teacher mother. He is exposed to music from a young age, and being very young initially makes it difficult to build a career as a DJ.

Early career

Payne secures a job at Buzz Records in High Wycombe in the summer of 1995. The shop is connected with DJ Pulse and the Creative Wax label, and this helps him meet promoters and club regulars. He soon begins to receive bookings across the UK, including sets at Sanctuary in Milton Keynes.
