Madball

Madball are a New York hardcore band from New York, United States, active since 1988. The group develops out of Agnostic Front: Roger Miret lets his younger half-brother Freddy Cricien take lead vocals during Agnostic Front shows, and Madball grows from that connection. After Agnostic Front disbands in 1992, Madball becomes the main project for several of its members, while also bringing in musicians who are not from Agnostic Front.

Style and scene

The band is associated with beatdown hardcore, hardcore punk and metalcore, and is closely linked with the NYHC scene. They appear alongside Agnostic Front, Vietnom, Bulldoze, Resistance, H2O and hip-hop group Special Teamz as part of New York’s DMS Crew. Madball also takes part in the 1995 documentary N.Y.H.C..

Releases

Madball release nine studio albums and four EPs. Their studio albums include Set It Off, Demonstrating My Style, Look My Way, Hold It Down, Legacy, Infiltrate the System, Empire, Hardcore Lives and For the Cause. Their EPs are Ball of Destruction, Droppin' Many Suckers, N.Y.H.C. EP and Rebellion. The band also issues a compilation, The Best of Madball.

Labels and membership

Madball release recordings on Roadrunner, Epitaph, Ferret and Good Fight Music. The current lineup includes Freddy “Madball” Cricien on vocals, Jorge Guerra on bass, Mike Gurnari on guitar and Mike Justian on drums. Other members associated with the band include Vinnie Stigma, John Lafata, Jay Weinberg, Will Shepler, Mitts, Brendan Porray, Hoya Roc, Rigg Ross and Walter Ryan.
