Mack Keane
Mack Keane is a singer, songwriter, producer and performer from Los Angeles. He grows up in a family of musicians, and music is part of his home life from an early age, including access to a family recording studio. His work draws on a wide set of influences, including Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Outkast, Pharrell and Frank Ocean.
Early life and influences
Keane is born and raised in Los Angeles. As a high school student, he remembers buying Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange after biking to Target. His listening habits also include classic soul, pop and R&B influences that shape his own writing and production.
EP trilogy
In 2019, he begins a trilogy of EPs named after places connected to his childhood. Donna Ave refers to the street where he grows up and reflects the musical environment of his family home. Aquanetta Dr pairs bright, warm production with darker, more reflective lyrics. He completes the trilogy with Dry Creek Rd, which looks back on moments that feel separated from the present.
Recent music
His single “Aaliyah” presents him in a more vulnerable and self-reflective mode, with themes of nostalgia and heartbreak. It marks a new phase in his music, with a focus on clearer self-examination and directness.
