Luna

Luna is a New York dream pop, indie pop and indie rock group active from 1991 to 2005 and fronted by Dean Wareham. The band forms after the breakup of Galaxie 500, with Wareham joining Stanley Demeski, formerly of The Feelies, and Justin Harwood, formerly of New Zealand band The Chills.

The original line-up later expands with guitarist Sean Eden for the second album, Bewitched in 1994. Lee Wall replaces Demeski on drums in time for Pup Tent in 1997, and Britta Phillips joins after Harwood leaves in 2000. Phillips is also known for her work with The Belltower and as the singing voice of the animated character Jem.

Luna is described as blending guitar detail, shifting dynamics and Wareham’s dry lyrical style. The band gives its final concert at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City in 2005. Wareham and Phillips later become romantically involved and marry in 2007. The group also reforms for tour dates in 2015 and 2016.
