Little Wings

Little Wings is a musical project from San Luis Obispo, United States, active since 1997 and led by Kyle Field. Field starts the project in 1998 in San Luis Obispo, and remains its only permanent member. The group works in folk, lo-fi, indie and singer-songwriter styles, with an acoustic approach.

Line-up and history

Field is born in Alabama in 1973 and grows up in California after his family moves there when he is young. He plays surf-influenced music and forms Little Wings in the late 1990s. Over time, the project includes Adam Selzer on drums, Rob Kieswetter, also known as Bobby Birdman, on keyboards, Mark Leece on bass, and other contributors. The verified line-up also includes Bobby Birdman, Kyle Field and Zak Riles.

Releases and labels

As Little Wings, Field releases more than a dozen albums on Walking and K Records, as well as independent releases. The project is associated with lo-fi and indie songwriting and has a large recorded output across those labels.

Related work

Outside Little Wings, Field performs with Grandaddy, Lee Baggett, André Herman Dune, Feist, Dirty Projectors, The Microphones, Bonnie Prince Billy, Peaches and Devendra Banhart during the 2000s. He also works as a visual artist, earns a BFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1997, and publishes his first book of drawings on Ahornfelder.
