Linnea Olsson
Linnea Olsson is a Swedish singer-songwriter and cellist. She grows up in a small coastal town in Sweden in a family of four musicians, and her musical background includes formal training and the kind of schooling and experience associated with a fully prepared instrumentalist and composer.
Career
Before releasing her own material, she spends years touring internationally as a bass and cello player with artists including Ane Brun, Frida Hyvönen and Nina Kinert. She also works as a collaborator in a range of musical settings, keeping a busy performance schedule and moving between projects.
In 2010 she turns to writing and recording her own songs and releases AH!, her debut album. The record contains eleven songs and is built around voice and cello, combining elements of longing, bliss, dream, motion and love. It presents her as both a singer and an instrumentalist, using a stripped-down arrangement to carry the material.
Style and instrumentation
Her work is rooted in cello-led songwriting and indie-leaning pop, with a focus on the interaction between her voice and her instrument. She is associated with collaboration as well as solo performance, and she continues to be identified as a cellist and singer-songwriter from Sweden.
