Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit is a nu metal band from Jacksonville, United States, active since 1994. The group is associated with alternative metal, alternative rock, hip hop, metal, nu metal and pop rock, and releases music through Flip Records. Its core line-up includes Fred Durst on vocals, John Otto on drums, Wes Borland on guitar and DJ Lethal on turntables, with Sam Rivers as a founding bassist.

Career

The band forms in 1994 when Durst and Rivers start the project, with Otto joining soon after and Borland following later. Limp Bizkit first builds a reputation in the Jacksonville underground scene in the late 1990s before signing to Flip Records, which is distributed by Interscope. Its debut album, Three Dollar Bill, Y'all, appears in 1997.

The band reaches a wider audience with Significant Other in 1999 and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water in 2000. Its early career also includes controversy linked to performances at Woodstock '99 and the 2001 Big Day Out festival. Borland leaves in 2001, after which Durst, Rivers, Otto and Lethal continue with guitarist Mike Smith.

After Results May Vary in 2003, Borland returns to record the EP The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) in 2005 with Durst, Rivers, Lethal and drummer Sammy Siegler. The group then goes on hiatus, reunites with Borland in 2009 and resumes touring, leading to Gold Cobra in 2011. It later leaves Interscope, signs with Cash Money Records, and sees DJ Lethal briefly depart before returning in 2018. The sixth studio album, Still Sucks, follows after years of discussion about an album called Stampede of the Disco Elephants.
