Lennie Gallant

Lennie Gallant is a Canadian singer-songwriter from North Rustico, Prince Edward Island. He works in folk rock and is known for performing in both English and French. He releases nine albums in total, including seven English-language albums and two French-language albums, and his writing receives recognition from the Juno Awards and the East Coast Music Association.

Career

Gallant is regarded by his peers as one of Canada’s strongest performing songwriters. He tours internationally in both full-band and acoustic settings, playing festivals and concerts with roots rock bands as well as solo. His performances are described as moving between narrative songs, comic observations, and rhythm-driven material.

He represents Canada at songwriter events in Nashville, London and Texas. He also performs alongside other songwriters such as Lucinda Williams, Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, Patti Griffin and Ron Sexsmith.

Recordings and songs

Over 30 artists record Gallant’s songs, including Jimmy Buffett, who invites him to perform on stage. His songs also appear in feature films, television series and theatrical productions.

His album When We Get There receives a Juno Award nomination and travels aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour, with Canadian astronaut Julie Payette choosing it for the crew to listen to. His album If We Had A Fire wins the East Coast Music Award for Roots Recording of the Year.

Recognition

Gallant receives multiple Juno Award and East Coast Music Association nominations and wins. He also receives three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, including English Songwriter of the Year, French Songwriter of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year.

Notable appearances

He performs six shows at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, including a performance at BC Place during the medal ceremonies.
