Len Faki

Len Faki is a techno producer and DJ from the south of Germany. He also uses the long-term pseudonym lamonde. He starts his career in electronic music with the project Lexicon on the House label Plastic City, before going on to establish two techno labels, Monoid and Feis.

Under these labels he releases work by artists including Umek, Samuel L. Session and Oxia on Monoid, and John Selway, The Hacker and Bolz Bolz on Feis. The labels issue 12-inches, albums and mix compilations. In 2001, as lamonde on Feis, he releases the debut album Music For Some Place Other Than This, which leads to coverage in major German music magazines and in de:bug. That magazine presents him as one of the artists helping to move techno in new directions, and describes his approach as combining and breaking apart apparently opposing elements through contemporary technology.

In August 2002, he releases the DJ mix compilation Lamonde At The Wheels of Steel, which presents his personal selections from techno history alongside contemporary productions. As Len Faki, he builds a profile through releases on Superbra in Switzerland, GoodLife in France and Terminal M in Berlin, with production that combines bass-line-driven percussion and heavy grooves.

He moves to Berlin at the beginning of 2003, which marks a major turning point in his music and business career. There he founds Len Series, an independent label framework for experimental and dancefloor-focused techno. Through its subsidiary labels, he explores different aspects of club and dance culture. The first offshoot, Figure, becomes popular with DJs and producers including Umek, Ben Sims, Monika Kruse and Marco Bailey.

As a DJ, Len Faki appears at venues including Ostgut in Berlin, Tresor and U60 in Frankfurt, and at events such as Sonne, Mond & Sterne Festival and Alive Festival in Belgium. His DJ style is described as direct and communicative, with sets built around passion, unexpected elements and a distinct personal aesthetic.
