Leifur James is a United Kingdom-based experimental producer and composer working in London. He makes electronically driven music that combines harmonic vocals, electronic soundscapes and drum patterns, and he often pairs his recordings with visual work.

Releases

James releases music on Night Time Stories, the original artist label of Late Night Tales. His debut album, A Louder Silence, appears in 2018, followed by a remix EP that includes reworks by Bruce, FaltyDL and Coby Sey. He also releases a second album, Angel in Disguise, which explores themes of love and loss and uses bespoke visuals directed by Balázs Simon.

Visual collaboration

James begins working with Hungarian director Balázs Simon on the Wurlitzer project in 2019. The project receives support from Boiler Room, CLASH, the BFI, Directors’ Notes, Motionographer, the UK and Berlin Music Video Awards, the London Short Film Festival and the Dublin International Film Festival.

Live activity

He performs at the Barbican Hall in London to a sold-out audience and then heads out on a European headline tour, with sold-out shows at Amsterdam Paradiso and the London Southbank Centre. He also appears at a number of tastemaker festivals.
