Lauren Aquilina

Lauren Aquilina is a British singer-songwriter from Bristol, and her work is rooted in pop and soul. Born in 1995, she is of British and Maltese descent. She begins singing at eight and starts playing piano at nine, with school piano playing forming part of her musical background.

Early releases and breakthrough

She gains attention through a self-released trilogy of EPs: Fools, Sinners and Liars. These releases appear between 2012 and 2014 and are issued while she is still at school. The EP run helps her reach the Official UK Singles Chart and also places her on six Billboard charts.

Album release and later work

After signing with Island Records and Universal Music Group, she releases her debut album, Isn’t It Strange?, in 2016. She later steps back from recording and performing, then returns with the songs Psycho in 2018 and Tobacco in my Sheets in 2019.

Other notable usage

Her song Time to Say Goodbye is used in the season six advert for the British drama Downton Abbey. She also appears at UK festivals, including a headline performance on BBC Radio’s Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds festivals.
