Laura K is a singer-songwriter from London, born in 1988. She starts writing songs at the age of eight, after learning piano three years earlier, and works across several instruments including keyboard, ukulele, glockenspiel and melodica, as well as singing.

Songwriting and style

Her songs focus on love, life and heartbreak, and she presents these themes in an upbeat and humorous way. Her work is described as poppy and rooted in indie pop and twee sensibilities.

Career

Before settling in London, she lives in Brisbane and plays in bands including Roman History and Little Scout. She also performs and records on her own. In addition to her solo work, she plays keyboards and sings in Tigercats, and the membership information also connects her with Fortitude Valley.

Notable moments

Among the experiences she highlights are meeting Jarvis Cocker backstage at Leeds Festival, being put on the guest list for one of Pulp’s sold-out shows at Brixton Academy, meeting One Direction, and appearing as an extra in a tour video for their 2013 stage shows.
