Korallreven

Korallreven are a Swedish electronic group from Stockholm, active from 2009 to 2015. The project is associated with Daniel Tjäder and Marcus Joons; Tjäder also plays keyboard in The Radio Dept. The group works in an electronic, chillout, balearic, indie and chillwave idiom.

Background and formation

The project begins with Marcus Joons in Samoa, where he is said to have formed an idea for the kind of pop music he wanted to make while on a long holiday. The concept draws on spiritual choral music, tropical atmosphere and a sense of reaching “the other side”, and he later develops it with Daniel Tjäder in Stockholm. The pair work on the project over several years before releasing music under the Korallreven name.

Releases

Korallreven first issue the singles “The Truest Faith”, “Loved-Up” and “Honey Mine”. They then release their debut full-length album, An Album By Korallreven, on Acéphale in 2011.
