Knives
Knives is a non-binary producer based in Lincolnshire, UK. The name is also used by a Birmingham-based band that plays a mix of math-rock, post-hardcore and emo, with technical riffs, unusual time signatures, distorted choruses and screamed vocals. Their live performances have developed a cult reputation across the UK.
History and releases
One version of Knives starts in London in 1998–1999 and releases a debut album, How Do You Feel About It?, in 2000 on Ozmazome Records, with a run limited to 200 copies. Another version is a New York progressive metalcore band formed by Justin Gonzalez, with Ryan Hilerio on drums and Aaron Auchmoody appearing on vocals on some songs. That group releases its debut, Demons! Demons! Demons!, in 2011.
Other acts using the name
The name Knives is also associated with a Basque crust’n’roll act, a SoundCloud digicore rapper linked to the Pop Rocks collective, and a hardcore punk band from Batu, Indonesia. Jon Borges and Phil Blankenship are also listed in connection with the name.
