KMRU

KMRU is the project of Joseph Kamaru, a sound artist, producer and DJ from Nairobi, Kenya. He works in ambient and experimental music, with a focus on atmospheric and drone-based pieces built from field recordings and detailed sound textures.

His practice often uses locally obtained recordings to shape layered soundscapes. In his DJ sets and mixes, he uses a similar approach, combining sounds, foley and field recordings with occasional atmospheric techno elements and a cinematic feel.

KMRU is also associated with collaborative work under the names KMRU & Aho Ssan and Kevin Richard Martin & KMRU.
