King Creosote

King Creosote is the stage name of Kenny Anderson, a Scottish singer-songwriter from Anstruther in the United Kingdom, born in 1967. His work is associated with folk, and he begins recording under the King Creosote name in 1995. He is also connected with the Fence Collective scene and often performs with musicians using stage names and pseudonyms.

Career

Anderson starts releasing music under King Creosote in the mid-1990s. His first album under the name is Queen Of Brush County, which appears in 1998. He goes on to release more than forty albums, along with a large number of self-released CD-Rs. Among the albums listed are Kenny and Beth's Musakal Boat Rides, Rocket D.I.Y., KC Rules OK, Bombshell and Flick The V's.

Collaborations and related projects

He performs with Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra and Khartoum Heroes, and he is a member of The Burns Unit, described as a Scottish-Canadian supergroup. At live shows, he usually appears with a regular line-up of fellow Fence Collective artists who use pseudonyms, including The Pictish Trail, On The Fly and Uncle Beesly. The verified membership list also includes Gavin Brown, Gangplank, Buoy Gull, JOKES and KC & The Moonshine Band.

Identity

King Creosote is not a separate band name but Anderson's performance name. He is known for using multiple identities and for working within a loose collective of Scottish artists.
