Kindest Of Thieves is the alias of Chris Fox, a songwriter and musician from Warrington in north-west England. His work focuses on pop songcraft with an emphasis on retro sounds, and his lyrics are described as poignant and emotionally direct.
Style and influences
Fox’s music blends traditional pop writing with a lo-fi approach. It is shaped by an interest in contrasting bleak and beautiful elements, and draws influence from Morrissey, Nick Cave, Robert Smith and Richard Hawley.
Recording
In July 2012, Fox records and mixes the seven-track album Serial Mothers and Terminal Hunchbacks in a single seven-hour studio session. The release presents an exposed, unpolished sound and is framed around honest, vulnerable songs.
