Kim Appleby

Kim Appleby is a British pop singer from Stoke Newington, United Kingdom. She is best known for being part of the duo Mel & Kim with her sister Mel, and for later continuing as a solo artist after Mel’s death.

Mel & Kim

Appleby performs as one half of Mel & Kim, the disco duo active in the 1980s. The pair establish a chart presence that leads into her later solo work.

Solo career

After her sister’s death, Appleby releases solo singles including “Mama”, “Don’t Worry” and “G.L.A.D.” Her debut solo album, Kim Appleby, is a major success in 1990. She follows it with Breakaway in 1993, released in Europe outside the UK. In 1994 she works again with former Mel & Kim producers Stock & Aitken, who write and produce her last hit, “Free Spirit”. The single’s B-side features a new version of her biggest hit, titled “Don’t Worry 94”.
