Kevin Seconds is a musician and singer-songwriter from Sacramento, California, who is associated with acoustic, punk, punk rock and folk punk. He is best known as the frontman and lyricist of the hardcore punk band 7 Seconds, which he forms in 1979 with his brother Steve Youth. He remains active with the band and continues to sing and write material for it.

7 Seconds

Seconds fronts 7 Seconds from the start and writes the group’s lyrics. The band signs to Better Youth Organization in 1982 and goes on to release more than 15 records. It also tours North America, Europe and Japan multiple times. The group is one of several projects he works on alongside solo work.

Solo work and side projects

Seconds begins releasing solo material in 1990 and tours in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. He issues albums under a number of different names, including Rodney, Reggie, Emily, Stoudamire, Heaven's Near Wherever You Are and Rise Up, Insomniacs!. In 2002, he releases a split EP with Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio.

His side projects include Go National, Drop Acid, Mustard and Ghetto Moments. He also records a series of collaborative split 7-inch releases with other punk singer-songwriters and musicians, including Kepi Ghoulie, Mike Scott, Mike Hale, Joey Cape, Jonah Matranga and Jesse Michaels.

Broadcasting

Seconds hosts a weekly punk rock radio show on KWOD 106.5 in Sacramento for three and a half years before the station ends the programme. He later hosts a weekly acoustic and punk show on PunkRadioCast.com.
