Kessler

Kessler is the name used by two separate acts: a rock band from Dallas and an electronic musician from Belfast, based in Rotterdam. The Dallas group forms in 2005 and develops from members who know each other from high school, while the electronic Kessler works as a DJ, producer and musician in techno, breakbeat and related styles.

Dallas rock band

The Dallas Kessler gains attention after recording a track for a local Coca-Cola CD, with a song on its MySpace page helping it secure a deal with YMA Records. The band records its debut album I Know Your Voice in Los Angeles with producer Jim Wirt, whose credits include Hoobastank, The Rocket Summer and Jack’s Mannequin. The album contains eleven tracks and includes the debut single “Outside Your Window” as well as “Dallas” and “Love Is War”.

The group’s sound is described through pop rock songs with strings and pianos added into the arrangements. It tours extensively after completing the album and shares bills with My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf, Forever the Sickest Kids, The Academy Is and Rooney. Its members include lead vocalist Mike Mitchell and drummer Jonathan Ogle.

Electronic producer

The other Kessler is a Belfast-born electronic artist based in Rotterdam, working across techno, breakbeat and other more obscure forms of electronic music. The name is also credited on an Autechre remix.
