Kelli-Leigh is a London-born singer and songwriter from south London, born in 1985. She develops a solo career alongside other vocal work and is associated with pop, house and dance music.

Background

She grows up in a musical family, with a mother who is a singer, songwriter and artist, and she is encouraged from an early age to be creative. She attends the BRIT School, where she studies and performs alongside artists who later become major acts.

Collaborative work

Along with her solo material, she is one half of the creative team KI with London-based musician and DJ Butcherd Beats, also known as Izzy B. The pair independently release a debut album, Before We Breathe, in 2006. The release sells well and is made available through iTunes and CD Baby. KI also tours extensively in Croatia, performing at Hemingway Bar dates in Split, Zagreb, Opatjia, Riejka, Brist and Podgora, as well as at venues and festivals in the UK. Tracks from the project appear on compilation albums and are played in UK high street stores and abroad.

Other vocal work

Kelli-Leigh also performs as part of the entertainment act High on Heels, touring internationally with the group. She later provides backing vocals for Adele on tour dates in the US and Europe.

Solo releases and style

In early 2012 she releases her debut solo EP, I Am Here, which contains six original songs. She describes her music as a mix of rock, funk and soul, with an emphasis on her voice and lyrics. Her influences range from Ella Fitzgerald to Skin of Skunk Anansie.
