Kean Kavanagh is an Irish singer-songwriter, producer and A&R, and a co-founder of the label Soft Boy Records. He works in pop, alternative and R&B-related styles, and presents himself as both a songwriter and a world-builder in his music.

Soft Boy Records

Kavanagh co-founds Soft Boy Records in 2015 with Kojaque. The label develops into a significant part of the Irish music scene, and Kavanagh works there as a producer and A&R as well as a co-founder.

Music and projects

His 2020 project Dog Person is described as an acclaimed release and helps establish his solo profile. In the same year, he appears on the Everything is Recorded project FRIDAY FOREVER, which is curated by Richard Russell of XL Recordings. That project includes contributions from Aitch, Flohio, Maria Somerville and Ghostface Killah among others.

Live work and collaborations

Through Soft Boy Records and his solo work, Kavanagh shares stages with Slowthai and Lana Del Rey. He also opens solo shows for Maverick Sabre and Vampire Weekend, and appears in a Boiler Room documentary about the label and collective.
