Kath Bloom
Kath Bloom is an American folk singer-songwriter from New Haven, Connecticut, and is based in Litchfield, Connecticut. She learns guitar in New Haven, including around the headstones of a local cemetery, and goes on to become associated with fragile folk and blues material.
Collaboration with Loren Mazzacane Connors
In 1976, Bloom meets avant-garde guitarist Loren Mazzacane Connors. The pair record six limited-edition albums between 1981 and 1984, drawing on folk and blues forms in a spare style.
Later recording and performances
After working with Connors, Bloom steps away from recording for a period while focusing on child-rearing and family life. She returns to recording in the early 1990s and begins self-releasing cassettes and CD-Rs. Her first non-CD-R release since 1984 appears on Chapter Music in 2006.
Bloom also plays with her band Love at Work, which includes longtime collaborator Tom Hanford and her husband Stan Bronski. Alongside band performances, she plays solo shows in the Northeastern United States and trains horses. Her songs are described as showing a fully developed folk songwriting style.
