Kanonenfieber

Kanonenfieber is a German blackened death metal band from Bamberg, active since 2020. The project is led by a musician who uses the name “Noise” and also plays in Non Est Deus and Leiþa. He keeps Kanonenfieber anonymous and works on the music around a regular full-time job, spending most of his free time on the project.

Style and concept

The band plays black metal, death metal, blackened death metal and melodic black metal with a dark, melodic sound. Its lyrics are in German and are noted for their harsh, poetic style. The project is built around historical material, especially the First World War, and is presented as a factual, non-glorifying approach rather than one focused on gore.

Debut album

Kanonenfieber’s debut album, Menschenmühle, is created in a small home studio and is intended to commemorate the victims of the First World War. The album is based on reports and letters from the war, drawn from the collection of a friend who is a hobby historian with a large archive of original documents. The record establishes the band’s combination of black and death metal with detailed historical subject matter.
