Kalben is the mononym of Kalben Sağdıç, a Turkish singer-songwriter from İskenderun, Türkiye, born in 1986. She begins making music as a child, first becoming interested in it by playing her mother’s keyboard at the age of eight, and later getting her first guitar at 14.

She studies International Relations at Bilkent University, graduating in 2007 on a scholarship, then starts a master’s degree in Media Design and Cultural Studies at the same university in 2008 and finishes in 2011. After moving to Istanbul to look for work, she works as a brand manager at Universal Pictures and also does scriptwriting, editing, project management and translation.

Alongside this work, she continues to perform occasionally in Ankara and Istanbul. Her music receives wider attention after the video for “Sadece” appears on Sofar Sounds in October 2014 and quickly becomes one of the most watched Sofar videos.

Kalben begins her music career after publishing a series of children’s novels titled Lulu. She also has a minor role in the television series Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer?. Her debut album, Kalben, is released by DMC in 2016, followed by Sonsuza Kadar in 2017 and Kalp Hanım in 2020.
