K2 is the name used by Japanese noise musician Kimihide Kusafuka. He is active from the early 1980s and releases a body of work that includes tapes and CDs. His music is built from crashing, creaking and scraping sounds made with pieces of junk metal, usually cut together in a jagged and unpredictable way, and often includes electronic sounds.

Style and sound

K2’s work sits within noise and Japanoise, using abrasive metal objects and electronics rather than conventional instruments. The recordings are shaped through abrupt editing, which gives the music an unsettled and fragmented character.

His output includes a number of tapes and compact discs. The project is one of several acts to have released music under the name K2, but this version refers to the Japanese noise project by Kimihide Kusafuka.
