Joris Voorn

Joris Voorn is a producer and DJ from Moergestel, Netherlands, who works in detroit techno, house and tech house. Raised in a musical family, he begins listening closely to electronic music around 1995 and starts DJing in 1997, which leads him deeper into techno and house. He later buys an MC-303 groovebox to experiment with synth lines and drum loops and begins building his own productions.

Early releases and studio work

At the end of 2000, Voorn sets up a small studio to make his own tracks. His first release, muted trax pt. 1, appears on Keynote and becomes successful enough to be played by Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rush, Technasia and others. After that he issues EPs on labels including Keynote, Sound Architecture, Line and Wolfskuil.

Albums, labels and aliases

In 2003, Lost memories Pt.1 comes out on Technasia’s SINO label, followed by Lost memories Pt.2, which includes the track Incident and is licensed for several major DJ mix CDs. His debut album, Future History, is released on SINO in 2004 and contains 20 tracks drawn from his early years of making electronic music. In 2005, he launches the outlet Green and releases A Dedicated Mind as an early EP there. His labels include Spectrum and Green, and he is also associated with Rejected.

DJ mix work

Voorn also works on DJ mix projects, including a mix CD for Belgium’s Fuse club. The project follows earlier Fuse mix editions by Dave Clarke, DJ Hell and Technasia, and uses Ableton Live for extended mixing and editing.
