Jordy is the stage name of Jordy Lemoine, a French singer from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, born in 1988. He is associated with european and French pop and dance music, and is best known for work released in the early 1990s as a child performer.
Early career
Jordy begins performing in 1992, at the age of four, with the single Dur Dur D'être Bébé (“It’s Tough To Be A Baby”). The song spends 15 weeks at number one in France and sells about two million copies worldwide. It makes him one of the youngest dance artists to find major chart success.
A second single, Alison, follows, along with the album Pochette Surprise. He tours in Europe, Asia, Canada and the United States with his parents, Claude Lemoine, a French producer, and Patricia Clerget, an author.
Albums and later releases
Further albums follow in the years after his early success: Potion Magique in 1993 and Récréation in 1994. In 2006, he releases the single Je T'apprendrai in France.
Other work
In 2005, Jordy wins the French reality show La Ferme Des Célébrités. He also publishes a book about his experiences in show business, titled Je ne suis plus un bébé (“I’m not a baby anymore”). In the book, he says that his father spends much of the royalties that should have been his after he turns 18.
Family and business activity
Jordy’s parents later open a farm to the public as a commercial centre, selling products using his image. The venture closes in 1996 after accusations of exploitation involving their children, and his parents, Claude Lemoine and Patricia Clerget, later divorce.
