Jordan Klassen is a Canadian folk-pop musician from Vancouver. His work is rooted in folk and indie pop, and is marked by delicate arrangements and an ethereal vocal style. His songs often use a changing mix of instruments, including violins, piano, finger-picked guitar, backup vocals and earthy percussion, with the parts added in ways that support rather than overwhelm the vocal and melodic lines.
Career
Klassen receives significant airplay on CBC Radio 1 and CBC Radio 2. He also records a live session at the 2010 TransCanada Alberta Music Series in Calgary.
Festival appearances
He is showcased at the 2009 Rifflandia festival in Victoria shortly after the release of his debut. He also appears on the bill at the 2010 Calgary Folk Music Festival, where he wins the Voter's Choice prize in the Galaxie Rising Star event.
Musical style
His recordings are described as imaginative and varied in mood, with songs that shift through changes in texture and instrumentation while keeping a hushed, intimate vocal centre.
