Jono McCleery

Jono McCleery is a British solo artist from the United Kingdom, active as a singer-songwriter with a style that spans blues, folk, liquid funk, pop and soul. He is based in London and is associated with acoustic songwriting, folk influences, nu jazz and fingerpicking guitar work.

Early releases

His first album, Darkest Light, appears in 2008 as an independent release funded by fans. This sets out the self-supported start to his recording career.

Ninja Tune period

After signing to Ninja Tune, he releases There Is, a record positioned in relation to a wide range of influences including Miles Davis, Massive Attack, John Martyn, Fink and Radiohead. The album is described as a carefully produced blend of those reference points.

Collaborations

McCleery also records Fire in my Hands with Royce Wood Junior. The release is paired with the B-side Painted Blue.
