John Maus is an American composer and musician, and also a former lecturer in political philosophy and theory at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. He is associated with hypnagogic pop, lo-fi, minimal synth, minimal wave, post-punk and synth-pop, and his work is often described with lo-fi, experimental, avant-garde, synthpop and pop tags.

Born in Austin in 1980, Maus releases six studio albums and numerous demos. He also performs with other acts, including Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Holy Shit and Panda Bear.
