JEBO

JEBO is a Bristol-based group formed by songwriter and guitarist Rob Allen and drummer Jeff France. The band develops around that core and, at different points, includes Gianfredo Konig on bass, Kevin J Messenger on vocals and Nick O’Neill on keyboards.

Background and releases

The group begins work on its debut album, Sinking Without You, which is released in 2007. Around the same period, JEBO plays a European tour and then appears at the Loreley Festival in Germany, supporting acts including Jethro Tull and Asia. The band also has a previous support slot with It Bites.

Style and influences

JEBO draws on progressive rock, folk and art rock, with influences that include The Who, Neil Young and Pink Floyd. Its live performances are presented as energetic and driving, with emphasis on guitar, drums, bass, vocals and keyboards as a five-piece arrangement.

Later line-up and recording work

During the recording sessions for its second album, the group goes through a major line-up change and then refines its sound. It finishes mixing the new album and works with producer John Burns, who has worked with Jethro Tull, Genesis and John Martyn, alongside Ben Findlay of Real World.
