JD Smith is a singer-songwriter and musician from Athens, Georgia, in the United States. She is born in Pennsylvania and works in an acoustic punk style, with an original indie pop sound also described in relation to her recorded work. Her influences include Natalie Merchant, Stevie Nicks, Suzanne Vega and Bonnie Raitt.

Recording and production

Smith releases an EP titled Conscious Earth. The record is produced by John Keane, who has worked with acts including R.E.M., the B-52s, Widespread Panic, Indigo Girls, Nanci Griffith and 10,000 Maniacs.
