Jason Carter is a British guitarist and documentary filmmaker, born in 1969. He plays folk and has developed a guitar style that draws on flamenco, jazz and classical guitar, while also incorporating elements of Indian and Arabic fusion, and techno and dance.

Musical background

He begins playing guitar at the age of nine. His training is largely self-directed, but he also attends master classes at the Royal Academy of Music with John Williams and Paco Peña.

Style and influences

Carter’s work is rooted in guitar performance, with a broad and eclectic approach that combines several traditions and genres. His playing brings together flamenco technique, jazz harmony and classical guitar, alongside more experimental influences.
