Jamie Harrison
Jamie Harrison is a name used by several different acts, including a rock band from Philadelphia, a singer-songwriter from Coventry, and a DJ from Nottingham associated with trance and other underground electronic styles.
Philadelphia rock band
One Jamie Harrison is a rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, active since 2001. The group’s current line-up is Jamie Goldfuss on acoustic guitar and vocals, John Field on lead guitar and harmonica, Saul Rubin on bass, and Dave Schwartz on drums. Former members and collaborators include Evan Joblin on guitar and keys, Seth Gottfried on bass, and Danny Zwillenberg on drums. The band releases records as Jamie Harrison and records in the company of producers Bill Moriarty and Mike Nau.
Its first album, The Normal Abnormal, appears in 2006 and is recorded by Bill Moriarty, who is associated with Dr. Dog and Lotus. A follow-up album, Everyone Gets A Fork, follows in 2007 and is recorded and produced by Mike Nau, known for work with Cotton Jones and Page France. Jamie Goldfuss also issues a solo album under the Jamie Harrison name in 2005, titled Suffocating Mundane. The band plays mostly in Philadelphia, with shows elsewhere in the eastern United States, and is recording material for another album.
Coventry singer-songwriter
Another Jamie Harrison is a singer-songwriter from Coventry in the UK. He plays psychedelic folk with a deliberately old-fashioned approach, using melodies and humorous lyrics. His debut release is the EP The Bear. His album The Struck World and the Bad Planet is released at the end of 2010, after four years of work, and is partly recorded in a squatted disused police station.
Nottingham DJ
A third Jamie Harrison is a DJ who begins developing an interest in underground dance music after a holiday to Ibiza in 2005. He works with his father as a DJ after leaving school, starts with small parties, and in 2006 is given a weekly residency at one of Nottingham’s biggest bars. He builds experience through club work and becomes known for playing versatile sets that range from uplifting trance in the main room to underground electro and other back-room styles. His profile also describes him as energetic and adaptable, with a focus on keeping dancefloors moving.
