James Vincent McMorrow

James Vincent McMorrow is an Irish singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. He is born in 1983 and records under his own name.

Career

McMorrow begins performing as James Vincent McMorrow in 2007. He releases an EP, The Sparrow and the Wolf, in 2008.

His debut album, Early in the Morning, is released in 2010 in Ireland through Believe Recordings. One of its songs is later used in Grey’s Anatomy, which helps build interest in the US and Europe. The album is then released more widely in 2011 and reaches the top 30 in Ireland and Norway. Its singles are “We Don’t Eat,” “The Sparrow and the Wolf” and “This Old Dark Machine.”

In 2012, he receives a European Border Breakers Award for the album’s success outside Ireland.

Later albums

His second album, Post-Tropical, is released in 2014. It marks a clear change in style from the nu-folk of his first record, moving towards electronica and ambient sounds. The album’s singles are “Cavalier” and “Red Dust.” It reaches the top 30 in the UK and the Netherlands and peaks at number 2 in Ireland.
