James Jones

James Jones

James Jones is a Dutch band formed by James Jones, also identified as Caspar Steinebach, and Jim Sheperd, also identified as Wim den Herder. The project begins after Jim Sheperd discovers James Jones performing with a band at a high school battle of the bands festival in Wassenaar and invites him to sing on his project, Project-X. After recording a few songs, Project-X changes its name to James Jones.

The group builds a fictional backstory around James Jones, presenting him as a musician who comes to the Netherlands after becoming known in Canada and who has played with artists including Nirvana, Soundgarden and Celine Dion. The story also says he travels to shows in the Netherlands by helicopter because he still lives in Canada.

James Jones wins several awards, including Best Amsterdam Student Band and the Voorschoten Music Award. The band also performs at Melkweg in Amsterdam and Paard van Troje in The Hague.
