Jaden Thompson is a UK house and electronic DJ and producer from Swindon who now lives in London. He becomes a resident at London nightclub fabric at the age of 20, and later returns to play at the club’s reopening. He first gains interest in making music through Timbaland’s PSP game Beaterator. Initially drawn to hip-hop and R&B, he later develops a style informed by Kerri Chandler, Omar S and Masters at Work, alongside more groove-led influences.
Thompson gains wider attention through his edit of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights”. His track “Closer” also draws notice after receiving support from BBC Radio 1. He is cited as having attracted backing from figures including Seth Troxler and Annie Mac. During the period of COVID-related club closures, he continues working in the studio and reflects on the difficulty of not being able to play to live crowds. He also notes the effect of lockdown on how dance music is received when clubs are shut, while pointing to the role of streams and home listening during that period.
Thompson plans to launch his own record label and has new music appearing on Maison Kitsuné’s label. He is associated with house music, electronic music and dance music, and his work sits within the UK club scene.
