Instrumenti

Instrumenti is a group from Rīga, Latvia, active since 2007. The duo consists of Reinis Sējāns and Jānis Šipkēvics. Their music combines indie-pop with experimental electro, and the two members are described as academically trained musicians with complementary roles: Šipkēvics handles vocals and keyboards, while Sējāns works on drums, keyboards and vocals.

The group releases its debut album, TRU, after first building a reputation through large concerts in Latvia. The album is recorded in Reykjavik at Valgeir Sigurðsson’s Greenhouse studios, with collaborators connected to recordings by Sigur Rós, Björk and Jónsi. Instrumenti also develops a live profile across the Baltic states and elsewhere in Europe, appearing at festivals and showcase events in countries including Germany, Iceland, Austria, Norway, England, France and Belgium.

Instrumenti’s concerts draw large audiences, and the group becomes known for elaborate stage presentations with major production and video projections. Their performances and recordings place them among the better-known Baltic acts of the period, with a style rooted in indie-pop and electronic textures.
